A 7 Week Letter

Dear Emmett,
It is nearly midnight and you are sleeping in your Rock N Play and I am laying in bed. Moments like these are so rare that I don't know what to do with myself... I guess I should be sleeping, but I can't get you off my mind. You are 7 weeks old, and I feel like I want to share every little detail about you with the world. There is so much to say! Nobody but a mother would find this interesting, but since my entire day revolves around you, everything seems like a big deal.
You are growing so very quickly it's incredible. As of 6 weeks of age you have started wearing 3 month clothes because you have outgrown most of the cute little 0 - 3 month outfits you have. You're alert, full of energy, and constantly wiggling, waving your arms, and kicking your legs for hours at a time. You used to eat every 2 hours (each time you woke up), but about a week ago you suddenly decided that you're a big boy and can sleep for 6 hours at a time. That big jump happened from one day to another... I put you to bed at 2 AM one day, fell asleep, and the next thing I knew it was 8 AM and you were barely waking up! It was amazing! I had not slept over 4 hours straight since you were born, so I felt pretty invincible that day. Because you sleep longer, you now consider every waking moment that you are not eating a moment wasted. We have yet to find the bottom of your stomach, because you'll keep eating as long as we keep a bottle to your mouth, even when it makes you spit up.
You still have your nights and days a little mixed... You usually don't fall asleep until 4 AM, then wake up at 10 AM, eat, and then fall asleep for another big chunk of time. Mom and dad have turned into night owls by now, but since I don't have anything else to do but look after you, I don't mind it much (on most days).
You currently weigh 11.5 pounds and are 23 inches long. You love to eat, love to be held, and love your pacifier... even though sucking on it also makes you stay awake when you shouldn't be. You are also very vocal; cooing and babbling whenever your mouth is free. It is especially cute during tummy time, even though it's hard to tell if you're grunting out of frustration or if that adorably loud "gaaa!" is because you're having fun. I hope it's the latter. Every day you smile more and more, but I am still trying to figure out what causes your random smiles. I was holding you on the couch a few days ago and you were smiling so much that I was finally able to catch one of those cute grins on camera!
