About this Blog

When I was 15, I read a book entitled Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas, by James Patterson. It's a love story partially told by entries in a diary from a mother to her newborn son, and although it has some sadness to it, I fell in love with the idea of writing letters to my children as they grew. For almost 10 years I carried that idea with me, until it was finally my time to become a mother. My plan 10 years ago was to fill up an entire hand-written journal for each of my kids, but then technology intervened in the form of blogs. It's much easier to express myself typing because I don't have the luxury of going back and deleting entire sentences when I write, plus blogs keep dates and pictures very well organized... and after quick deliberation this blog was born. I had to wait a few months to publish it because we had not found our baby's name yet, but it's here now and it will hopefully be here until you are old enough to want to read it, Emmett.

Although I want this to be mostly made up of letters from myself to you, I also want to give others the opportunity to share their thoughts and stories throughout the years. Even now, while still in the womb, you are very much loved by many people. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and close friends are anxious for your arrival, and they too have the opportunity to write to you if they wish. I hope that through this diary one day you can come to understand just how much I have loved you... not just for your whole life, but for your entire existence.
